Physical and chemical properties Properties:

Colorless or white crystalline powder. The smell of alkali, easy deliquescence. Relative density: 1.57 g/cm ^ 3 (solid) 25 ° C (lit. ) Soluble in water, soluble in methanol, ethanol, liquid ammonia. Insoluble in ethyl ether, acetone. Solution of litmus alkaline, not alkaline with phenolphthalein. Low toxicity. Combustible. Applications:
Potassium Acetate is used for the manufacture of antibiotics, potassium penicillinate, and in solutions for haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. In addition it can be used as a textile conditioner, a polymerization catalyst and as a catalyst in the production of polyurethane foams and carbon black. It is also used as a dehydrating agent, as runway de-icing fluid or drilling fluid additive.
